Welcome all SJA Families!
Welcome to the 2010 school year. I hope you have had an enjoyable summer and are ready to hit the ground running! My name is DeAnna Swan, and I am the 2010 SJA annual auction chair.
For those of you new to our amazing school, the annual auction is the largest and most important fund-raising event for our school. The auction helps provide funds for day to day operations, books, faculty wages and helps keep our tuition costs down.
The theme of this year’s auction is “It Takes a Team to Educate a Child”. SJA is a community bound together by a common goal – the first-rate education of our children. It takes three separate groups – faculty, parents and students – to achieve this goal and that is why “It Takes a Team to Educate a Child”.
Did you know each family is required to volunteer 20 developmental hours? Auction is a wonderful opportunity to help with required volunteer hours and we need your help to make this year’s auction a huge success for our children and our school. There are many different volunteer opportunities for all schedules and capabilities. For more information regarding volunteer opportunities check out the volunteer board in front of Miss Leslie’s office.
As some of you know, procurement is what makes the auction the success it is each year. Each family is required to procure $450. Please do not be scared or intimidated. We will help you achieve your goal. There are many ways to procure items: Can you perform a service: cook a gourmet meal or paint a room? Do you or someone you know have a vacation home? Have some extra air-miles? Maybe you have a business you would like to advertise in the auction catalog? The ideas are endless. If you have questions regarding procurement please do not hesitate to ask.
I am very proud to be part of such an amazing school and I hope you also are proud of the strong academia, values and community SJA offers our children. It is an honor to be part of this wonderful community and I hope each of you also enjoy the SJA journey this school year.
I would not be able to pull this event together without the strong support of the auction coordinators. There is a complete list of all the team coordinators listed on our SJA auction website. If you have any questions please feel free to contact myself (the_swans@comcast.net) or Rachel Kaminski (4vrmomrmk@gmail.com). Rachel is the auction co-chair and is an amazing wealth of knowledge.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you at the auction!
