FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Where does the money raised go?
All proceeds from the auction go to the operation costs of the
school, unless otherwise specified. (Fund an item or corporate matching)
2. Who coordinates the auction?
The school administration and parent volunteers coordinate all aspects of the SJA auction.
3. How can I help?
Volunteer sign up sheets can be found in the school office, you may
sign up on the bulletin board in the Parish center, or watch for a
volunteer sign up sheet in your white envelope.
4. As a parent at St. Johns what is my responsibility?
Each family is required to procure $450 worth of items, cash,
advertising or matching funds for the annual auction. If you are unable
to procure this amount you will be billed the difference. Each family is
also required to volunteer 20 development hours; auction hours may be
used towards this total.
5. What should I donate?
Try to think of things that are of interest to you. Big or small,
generally smaller items are grouped together or with larger items. We
only ask that items donated are new, unused and not apparel or footwear.
6. What is the Premier Silent Auction?
The premier silent auction is a smaller scale version of the auction
and will be held on November 4th, 2012. This auction is held after mass
in the Parish center and there is no charge to attend.
7. Why am I part of an auction team?
Each family is placed on a team to work together and create a package
for the live auction. There is a team captain that will organize your
team and your package. The team package generally has a value of at
least $700. Packages in the past have been anything from a trip to
Hawaii to a weekend in Seattle.
8. What are class projects?
Each teacher works with the room parents and their students to create
a unique personalized project that will be sold in the live auction.
9. What are Buy-Ins?
Many parents get together and plan a party to sell at the auction
called a buy-in. Parties in the past have ranged from Mom’s Margarita
Night to a sleepover in the school. These parties may be purchased only
at the auction and are priced per person or couple.
10. How do I ensure I get credit for my Procurement?
Make sure you completely and clearly fill out the procurement form
and include it when dropping off your items. All items turned in after
October 26th, 2012 will not be counted towards you required procurement
totals.
