At St. John the Apostle Catholic School we do not believe
tuition cost should be an obstacle to Catholic education. At SJA we are committed
to the principle that the doors shall be open to all, regardless of economic
circumstances. Gifts to the Support a Student program enable needy and deserving
students an opportunity to receive a quality academic and religious education
in a Catholic school.
During the 2011-12 school year we afforded assistance to
approximately 35% of our students (88 of the 255). Working with the evaluations
of our third party assistance program, (FACTS Grant and Aid Assistance Service),
for the upcoming 2012-13 school year, they identified a need of $200,000 for 90
students. The difficulty we have, however, is we can only disburse a total of
$64,418.00.
Tuition costs for 2012-13 SJA school year is $4,456 for one
parish student; the actual cost to educate a child is $5,057. Struggling
families are unable to attend SJA, since they need more assistance that we can
award. We would like to make our excellent academic program available to all
the families applying for assistance without having to turn them away due to
their temporary financial difficulties. The goal could be a possibility if we
were able to offer more assistance.
